Franz Josef Altenburg

Franz Josef Altenburg (* 1941 in Bad Ischl ) is an Austrian sculptor and ceramic artist.

Life

Franz Josef Altenburg studied at the Graz School of Applied Arts with Hans Adametz . He made various study visits abroad, including with Jean Claude de Crousaz in Geneva. Until 1993 Altenburg was a freelance artist in the Gmundner Keramik studio. He is a member of the Kunstforum Salzkammergut and an important representative of modern ceramics in Austria.

Franz Josef Altenburg is a great-grandson of Emperor Franz Joseph I . and Empress Elisabeth .
