Unterberg is one of the 15 communities in the Tamsweg ( Lungau ) district in the State of Salzburg in Austria with 1,015 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).
Community structure
The community includes a village and consists of the cadastral communities Unterberg and Voidersdorf.

The coat of arms of the municipality is: "In a black shield a narrow silver wave bar, accompanied by a golden crown at the top, a golden ball to the right and left of it, and below by the crossed golden mallets and iron, both enclosing a golden ball above."

Culture and sights

- Moosham Castle : First mentioned in 1191. Moosham Castle is the third largest castle complex in the state of Salzburg and is still family-owned today. The castle is open to the public and impresses with a rich art collection compiled by the castle lord, with Roman finds from the area, and well-preserved files and torture tools from the time of the witch trials.
- Catholic parish church Unternberg hl. Ulrich: A baroque building, which was expanded with a modern extension in 1978/1979 according to the plans of the architect Heinz Tesar .
