Lessach (Lungau dialect: Leassa) is a municipality in the Tamsweg district in the state of Salzburg with 535 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).

The municipality includes the following two localities (population in brackets as of January 1, 2020):

  • Lessach (423)
  • Zoitzach (112)

The community consists of the cadastral communities Lessach and Zoitzach.

coat of arms

The blazon of the municipal coat of arms reads: "In a split shield in silver on the right, three black cross-tips left, and on the left in red an inward-facing silver wing."

The wing refers to the noble family of Ortenburgers. The cross points are a takeover of the coat of arms of the Lords of Weißpriach, who had an archiepiscopal estate in the 15th century in what is now the local area.

The coat of arms was awarded on January 15, 1973.

Sports

There is a soccer field in Lessach that is used by FC Lessach.

In the western part of the village there is a ski tow lift, which is owned by the local ski club.

The start of the cross-country route is at the valley station of the lift. This runs to the "Lessacher-Winkl".
