The Roman Catholic parish church of Wallern in Burgenland is in the market town of Wallern in Burgenland in the district of Neusiedl am See in Burgenland . The parish church of St. Matthäus belongs to the dean's office in Frauenkirchen in the Eisenstadt diocese . The church is a listed building .

history

A parish was mentioned in 1734. A small church was expanded in 1761. In 1881 an extension took place with the city architect Josef Schmalzhofer from Vienna. In 1931 the church was structurally changed. 1974 was a restoration.

architecture

The large, simple church building has a recessed round apse to the north and the polygonal choir of the baroque church to the east. The south-facing free-standing tower from 1761 has Ionic corner pilasters throughout and a four-sided pyramid helmet.

The five-bay nave is a large barrel-vaulted room.

Furnishing

A war memorial chapel was set up in the baroque choir.
