St. Wendelinus (Zellhausen)
The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Wendelinus in Zellhausen is dedicated to St. Wendelinus . The parish belongs to the dean's office in Seligenstadt in the diocese of Mainz .
history
It was not until 1874 that Zellhausen was raised to an independent parish , after its own parish curate had been set up two years earlier . Until then, Zellhausen had been a branch church of the Seligenstadt parish for centuries - alongside Klein-Welzheim and Froschhausen - which was incorporated into the Benedictine Abbey in Seligenstadt until 1803 .
After the old church from 1783 had become too small, “it was decided in 1902 to build a new church. Construction began in 1903. With the active help of the cell houses and the commitment and organizational skill of Pastor Keilmann, the parish church we know today was completed in 1904 in record time and at a very affordable price of around 85,000 marks. "
The new church was built in neo-Gothic style based on the model of St. Mark's Church in Altenmittlau in the Prussian province of Hessen-Nassau .
organ
After the new parish church of St. Wendelinus was inaugurated in Zellhausen on October 17, 1904, the following year, 1905, the organ builder Martin J. Schlimbach (1841–1914) from Würzburg installed a new organ with 19 stops on two manuals and a pedal . After a renovation in the 1970s, in 2007 the parish commissioned the Hardt organ building company with cleaning and technical repairs as well as the reconstruction of the prospect pipes and the Cornett IV (HW). Earlier modifications of some registers could not be undone:
- in the HW there was a gamba 8 'in the original at the place of the Octave 2'
- in the OW there was a Dolce 8 'in the original at the place of the Octave 2 ′
- in the PW there was the Octave 4 'in the original flute bass 16'
Following the so-called organ movement and based on its ideals, these tonal enhancements corresponded to the typical taste of the time.
