Phil Bruns
Philip Bruns (born May 2, 1931 in Pipestone , Minnesota - † February 8, 2012 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor .
Life
Bruns attended Yale Drama School, played on stage and in commercials in New York, and was active as a character actor since 1959 ; best known is his role in the television series Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman as the father of the eponymous heroine. In the mid-1960s, he was seen for three years at the side of Jackie Gleason in his comedy show. As a guest star, he has worked for numerous series such as Columbo , Harry's Wondrous Criminal Court , M * A * S * H and Seinfeld . He also played roles in about 40 movies.
In 2008 his book The Character Actor's Do's, Don'ts And Anecdotes was published .
