Phil Gibson

Phil Gibson (born November 30, 1978 in Burlington , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian Canadian football player. He played four seasons as defensive lineman in the Canadian Football League (CFL).

Career

Gibson played college football at the University of Toledo for the Toledo Rockets from 1998 to 2001 . In the 2001 CFL Draft he was selected as the 18th player by the Montreal Alouettes in the third round. Most of his first season in the CFL, the 2002 season , he spent on the Injured List , only in the 16th game week he made his debut in the game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats . Also in the 2003 season he spent most of the beginning of the season on the Injured List, only on the seventh game day in the game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers he was eligible to play. He scored three tackles and one sack in the game . In August 2003, the Alouettes traded Gibson for picks in the 2004 and 2005 CFL Draft to the Saskatchewan Roughriders . There he scored 15 tackles in 29 games . In March 2005, the Alouettes signed Gibson as a free agent . At the beginning of June 2007, the Tiger-Cats signed him. However, he did not survive the final roster cut and was therefore released at the end of June 2007.
