Philibert Jean-Baptiste Curial
Philibert Jean-Baptiste Curial (born April 21, 1774 in Saint-Pierre-d'Albigny , † May 30, 1829 in Paris ) was a French Général de division of the infantry .
Life
Curial was a son of the lawyer François Joseph Curial (1740-1801) and his wife Marie Domenget. Enthusiastic about the ideals of the revolution , Curial joined the army at eighteen. Under General Jean-François Carteaux he fought in the Revolutionary Wars and was soon able to distinguish himself through bravery.
When Napoleon started his campaign in Egypt in 1798 , Curial volunteered. In Egypt he was again able to distinguish himself and was promoted to Chef de bataillon in 1799 .
Curial led his own command at Austerlitz (December 2, 1805) and then switched to the Guard impériale in the same function . He fought near Jena (October 14, 1806), Preußisch Eylau (February 7/9, 1807) and Friedland (June 14, 1807).
On March 14, 1808, Curial married Clémentine-Marie, a daughter of State Councilor Jacques Claude de Beugnot, in Paris and had three children with her: Napoléon Joseph (1809–1861), Marie Clémentine (1812–1889) and Adolphe Philibert (1814–1861). 1873).
He took part in the battles near Aspern (May 21/22, 1809) and Wagram (July 5/6, 1809), as well as in the disastrous Russian campaign in 1812 .
Further promotions followed after his service in front of Vauchamps (February 14, 1814) and Craonne (March 7, 1814).
Philibert Jean-Baptiste Curial died on May 30, 1829 at the age of 57 in Paris, where he found his final resting place.
