Hans Jakob von Wattenwyl (* 1506 ; † 24 May 1560 ) was mayor of the city ​​of Bern .

Hans Jakob von Wattenwyl was in French service and was wounded in the battle of Pavia . In the same year (1525) he married Rose de Chauvirey, daughter of Philibert and Isabeau d'Achey, and became a member of the Grand Council, a year later of the Small Council. In the Second Kappel War he served as a lieutenant. In 1533 he became mayor of Bern for the first time, then again in 1537, 1539, 1542, 1546, 1550, 1554 and 1558. In 1536 he was a representative of the Bernese council for the religious talks in Lausanne .

Hans Jakob von Wattenwyl was lord of Colombier , Bevaix and Münchenwiler and co- lord of Burgistein , Schönegg, Kirchdorf, Gurzelen , Seftigen and Gerzensee .

Two of his sons moved to Burgundy and founded the family branches there.
