Philip Giaccone

Philip Giaccone aka "Philly Lucky" and "The Priest" (born July 12, 1932 in Ridgewood, Queens ; † May 5, 1981 in Lindenwood, Queens) was an Italian-American gangster in the American mafia family Bonanno , one of the powerful Five Families .

Early life

Little is known about Giaccone's early life. He rose in the career ladder of the Mafia up to the Capo regime of the Bonanno family, where he belonged to the faction of the so-called Zips (Sicilian immigrants who differed in their mentality from their Italian-American colleagues), who fought a family-internal power struggle. Giaccone was on the side of Capo Alphonse Indelicato .

The three capos murder

On May 5, 1981, the three rebellious capos of the Zips faction, Alphonse Indelicato, Giaccone and Dominick Trinchera , were lured into a trap and murdered, a crime known as Three capos murder (murder of the three capos). That put down the rebellion.

According to FBI agent Joseph Pistone , the murderers responsible were: Dominick Napolitano , John Cersani , Salvatore Vitale , Joseph DeSimone, Nicholas Santora , Vito Rizzuto , Louis Giongetti, Santo Giordano, Gerlando Sciascia and Joseph Massino . Benjamin Ruggiero and Cersani stood smear and were responsible for the body removal along with Napolitano, James Episcopia and Robert Capazzio. Anthony Indelicato escaped the assassination because he accidentally missed the meeting.

The bodies were taken to Lindenwood, Queens, and placed in a Gambino family mafia cemetery . Gambino-Capo John Gotti , who was a friend of the conspirator Massino, helped the men of the Bonnanos. Indelicato's body was discovered a short time later.

In October 2004, children playing found the bodies of Giaccone and Trinchera. The Piaget -Uhr of Giaccones woman who was found in the body, reference was to his identity. In December 2004, the identification of Giaccone and Trichera was positive.

On December 5, 2005, Joseph Massino confessed to having participated in the murders of Giaccone, Trinchera and Indelicato. He received two life sentences, but was released in 2013 because his cooperation with the authorities was rewarded. In May 2007, gangster Vito Rizzuto was sentenced to ten years in state prison for participating in the murder. On October 29, 2010, Salvatore Vitale, who had also participated in Giaccone's murder, was convicted of several murders and then accepted into the witness protection program .
