Philip Rogers, of the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club sailed, won in 1932 in Los Angeles at the Olympic Games in the 6 meter class bronze medal. He was the skipper of the Caprice , which finished the first four races in third and last place and was third behind the only other two boats. The Americans finished all races in second place, the Swedes came first. Due to the lack of prospects of success, the Canadians did not take part in the last two of the six races. The Caprice's crew included Gerald Wilson , Kenneth Glass, and Gardner Boultbee .
Rogers graduated from McGill University and worked in the sugar industry , where he worked in the family business in British Columbia . He rose to be its president and held this office until his death in 1961.
