Philip Witte

Philip Witte (born July 29, 1984 in Hamburg ) is a German hockey player .

Philip Witte started playing hockey at the Großflottbeker THGC . Since 2007 the striker has been playing for Uhlenhorster HC , with whom Witte won the Euro Hockey League in 2008.

In 2005 Philip Witte made his debut in the German national hockey team . In the same year he took part in the FIH Champions Trophy , where the German team took fourth place. In 2006 the German team took second place in the Champions Trophy, and in 2007 they won the tournament in Kuala Lumpur. In 2008, however, the team only finished fifth. In between, Witte took part in the 2007 European Championships in Manchester, where the team finished fourth. At the 2008 Olympic Games , Witte and the German team won the final against Spain 1-0 and became Olympic champion.

Philip Witte has played 83 international matches, none of them indoors. (As of July 21, 2008)

The Federal President awarded him the Silver Laurel Leaf for his sporting achievements .
