Philipp Faust

Philipp Faust (born August 1, 1898 in Nieder-Olm , Rheinhessen , † February 28, 1959 in Wuppertal ) was a German bricklayer and writer .

Life

Philipp Faust was the son of a master mason . He completed an apprenticeship as a bricklayer and was active in this profession. From 1916 he took part in the First World War as a soldier . He later lived in Wuppertal , where he again worked as a bricklayer. Since the 1930s he has published literary works, some of which he read on reading tours , on the radio and, during the Second World War, also in the context of troop support . After 1945 he was back in his job, but later had to give it up for health reasons.

As an author, Philipp Faust was a representative of realistic , ideologically independent workers' literature . His work consists of novels , stories and poems , in which he often processed his own experiences, such as his experiences during the First World War and experiences from his professional activity as a bricklayer .

In his birthplace Nierder-Olm, a street is named after Philipp Faust.
