Philipp Jakob von Kaltenthal (also Kaltental) (* before 1627; † March 14, 1669 ) was a knight of the Teutonic Order and builder of the pilgrimage church Maria Birnbaum in Sielenbach in the Bavarian administrative district of Swabia .

Philipp Jakob von Kaltenthal came from the Württemberg line of the von Kaltenthal family . He was the son of Philipp von Kaltenthal and his wife Margarete Johanna, née von Stain . His date of birth is not known.

career

In 1627 Philipp Jakob von Kaltenthal entered the Teutonic Order. In Ellingen he held the office of builder . He was kitchen , cellar , builder and house commander in Freudenthal and Mergentheim . His other offices were those of a trapper and an overridden . From 1653 to 1658 he was Komtur of the German Order Coming Horneck and then Komtur in Blumenthal . In 1662 he became councilor of the Ballei Franken . Philipp Jakob von Kaltenthal had the Maria Birnbaum pilgrimage church built on the property belonging to the Kommende Blumenthal between 1661 and 1668.

Philipp Jakob von Kaltenthal was buried in the Maria Birnbaum church that he built. An oval medallion with the coat of arms of the deceased is carved into the center of his tombstone. It is surrounded by the coat of arms of his family, the coat of arms of the Lords of Stain , the Barons of Hohenegg and the Lords of Bubenhofen . A cross is carved between the two upper coats of arms and above it the inscription: IN HOC SIGNO VINCES (In this symbol you will win). Between the two lower coats of arms the inscription can be read: HIC JACET CINIS PULVIS ET NIHIL HUIUS SANCTAE ECCLESIAE FUNDATOR (Here lies the dust, the ashes and the nothing of the founder of this church).
