Philipp Joachim von Prassberg (born January 26, 1679 in Markdorf ; † December 10, 1754 in Überlingen ) was the Grand Prior of the German Order of Malta for a short time in 1754 and was thus the owner of the Heitersheim rulership .

Life

He came from the family of the Vogt von Alten-Sumerau and Prassberg . The family held the hereditary marshal office of the prince monastery Kempten and was also in the service of the diocese of Constance . In 1674 the sex was elevated to the status of Austrian baron.

Philipp Joachim was born on January 26, 1678 as the 14th child of Franz Rudolf von Alten-Sumerau and Prassberg and Maria Ursula von Ulm in Markdorf. On November 22nd, 1695, he was sworn into the order. After years of service in Malta, he became Commander in Überlingen in 1704 (until 1715). From 1721 to 1728 he was Komtur der Kommende in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. On December 10, 1738, he was made Grand Bailli, and on July 9, 1744, he became the (titular) prior of Hungary. From 1750 to 1754 he was also Commander in Chief in Münster and Burgsteinfurt .

On February 15, 1754, Prassberg was appointed Grand Prior of the German Order of St. John, which also made him Commander of the Knights' House of Bubikon . As a grand prior, he was promoted to the rank of imperial prince. He was granted only a short term of office, because he died on December 10, 1754 in Überlingen. His epitaph is in the Franciscan Church.
