Philipp Loosen

Philipp Loosen (* 25. July 1880 in Klotten ; † 24. October 1962 in Trier ) was a German Government and mayor of Trier.

Life

After attending a grammar school in Cochem, he got a job as an administrative officer in Essen . In 1919 he joined the SPD and from 1919 to 1924 he was a member of the Trier city council. From 1920 to 1924 he was chairman of the SPD local association in Trier. After a brief decline due to separatist efforts during the Rhenish Republic , he re-founded the Workers' Welfare Association in Trier. He held the chairmanship of the AWO from 1925 to 1928 and from 1932 to 1933. In 1923 he became an honorary and from 1924 to 1930 full-time alderman of the city of Trier. He was chairman of the SPD sub-district Trier from 1926 to 1927 and from 1930 to 1932. After his appointment to the government council, he was director of the Trier employment office until he was dismissed at the beginning of the Nazi era. After the end of the Second World War , Loosen was Mayor of Trier from 1945 to 1950 and 1958. After his death, the city of Trier dedicated an honorary grave to him.
