Philipp Schrepfer

Philipp Schrepfer (born April 13, 1906 in Würzburg ; † September 18, 1978 there ) was a German blacksmith and president of the Chamber of Crafts for Lower Franconia .

Life

After attending primary school, Schrepfer did an apprenticeship as a locksmith and attended vocational school and the arts and crafts school in Würzburg, then the Academy of the State School for Applied Arts in Nuremberg . In 1931 he passed the master's examination to become a blacksmith and founded his own business in Würzburg. In the thirties he worked part-time as a teacher at the arts and crafts school. During the Second World War he was used in military service, wounded in the process and finally taken prisoner. After his release, he was involved in rebuilding the vocational school in Würzburg, where he worked as a teacher for two years. His ironwork can be seen in many public buildings around the world, and he has also participated in numerous exhibitions. The head master of the Würzburg locksmith guild became vice-president of the Chamber of Crafts for Lower Franconia in 1951, from 1953 to 1974 he was its president and then honorary president. He was also deputy chairman of the cultural committee of the German craft in Bonn , the South German plastics center in Würzburg and the institute for plastics processing at the Technical University of Aachen . Furthermore, he was a member and alternate chairman of the board of AOK Würzburg and volunteered in some professional associations and corporations. From 1965 to 1975 he was a member of the Bavarian Senate .
