Philipp Welte

Philipp Welte (born March 22, 1962 in Hechingen ) is a German journalist and manager . He is the Board Member for National Media Brands at Hubert Burda Media Holding Kommanditgesellschaft.

Welte studied politics and cultural studies in Tübingen , after having worked as a volunteer at the Ulm regional newspaper Südwest Presse from 1981 . He then worked as a freelance journalist and from 1992 as a television consultant for Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk .

Philipp Welte completed the majority of his career with the Burda Group . He has been with the company since 1994. In 2007 Welte CEO of Image T-Online AG and took over this function, the responsibility for today Bild.de . At the beginning of 2008 he became Chief Marketing Officer at Axel Springer Media Impact. Welte has been a board member of Hubert Burda Media since 2008.

Welte is Vice President of the Association of German Magazine Publishers .

At an industry event in Berlin in 2020, he compared the success of American social media companies with nuclear weapons and the Morgenthau plan .
