Philipp von Gemmingen, called Schellig
Philipp von Gemmingen, called Schellig († 1520 ) came from the Velscher branch of the Barons of Gemmingen . He was the Palatine court chamberlain .
Life
He was the son of Eberhard von Gemmingen († 1479). In 1480 he wrote a lapel to Count Eberhard von Württemberg because of the fiefs that his father Eberhard had previously had. In it, he corrected the incorrectly numbered farm positions in Gemmingen, which were incorrectly numbered at 70 in the hall book, to 17. In 1513 he exchanged half of it for Stebbach with Orendel von Gemmingen for one-sixth to Michelfeld . In 1515 he acquired a portion of the tithe in Berwangen, which was later redeemed . In 1520, the year he died, the 1000 guilders duty at Kaub , which his family had received through his uncle Wendel , was also paid . He was buried in Gemmingen .
His nickname Schellig is interpreted as the bad one .
His grave slab, originally in the old Gemminger church, is now in the garden of the Gemminger lower castle . It shows the Gemmingen coat of arms below a Gothic tracery ornament . The grave slab of his wife Anna is also preserved in the palace garden.
family
He was married to Anna von Helmstatt († 1519).
