Philippe Besson (born January 29, 1967 in Barbezieux-Saint-Hilaire ) is a French writer.

Life

After attending secondary school in Bordeaux , Besson completed a law degree in Rouen . At the age of 22 he went to Paris , where he initially worked as a lawyer and lecturer in social law. Influenced by Marguerite Duras , Marcel Proust and Arthur Rimbaud , Besson published his first novel En l'absence des hommes in 2001 , which was followed by more annually. Some of his books have been translated into 14 languages ​​and achieved bestseller editions in France.

  • Patrice Chéreau filmed his novel Son Frère . The film was awarded the Silver Bear at the 2003 Berlinale .
  • The novel L'arrière-Saison was staged as a play on April 20, 2004 in the Montée in Paris.
