Philippe Francq (born December 13, 1961 in Etterbeek, Belgium ) is a Belgian comic artist . With the Largo Winch series , he achieved particularly high sales figures in the French-speaking world.

After attending school, Francq entered the Institut Saint-Luc in Brussels at the age of 15 , where he was able to perfect his realistic drawing style. After a short stint in the studio of Bob de Moor , who continued Hergé's work , he began the series Des villes et des femmes with the scenarioist Bob de Groot and worked alongside as an animation artist for an animation studio.

In 1989, Francq met Jean Van Hamme , who was looking for a draftsman to adapt his series of novels Largo Winch into comic form. The joint work resulted in a series of albums, the editions of which are among the best-selling titles in France and Belgium.

Philippe Francq is married and lives in the south of France.

Francq's distinctly realistic drawing style aroused admiration. Critics criticize his idealized figures as well as his more artisanal style and accuse him of a lack of creative expression.
