Philippe Lançon

Philippe Lançon (* 1963 in Vanves ) is a French journalist and writer . He works mainly for the daily newspaper Liberation and the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo , as well as for the public radio station France Inter . Lançon was wounded in the terrorist attack on Charlie Hebdo during an editorial meeting on January 7, 2015.

life and work

Philippe Lançon completed a master's degree in European law and also holds a degree from the Center de formation des journalistes (CFJ), a private Parisian journalism school .

Philippe Lançon works mainly as a literary critic, a. a. on Latin American literature. In 2015 he was invited to Princeton University in the USA as a visiting fellow . However, he was unable to accept the job because he was seriously injured in the Charlie Hebdo attacks.

In his book Le lambeau ( Eng . The scrap ) Lançon writes about the attack and the lengthy surgical treatment of his massive facial injuries in the mouth and lower jaw area. In France the work became a bestseller and won various prizes. The book also received extremely positive reviews in German-speaking countries.
