Phoebe Holcroft Watson
Phoebe Holcroft Watson (born October 7, 1898 , † October 20, 1980 ) was a British tennis player .
Career
Watson won four Grand Slam titles in women's doubles in her career . In 1928 she was successful at the French championships (now the French Open ) and at Wimbledon . She won her first title with the British Eileen Bennett in Paris and the second with Peggy Saunders . 1929 was just as successful; after the title defense at Wimbledon (with Peggy Saunders) followed the triumph at the US tennis championships with her compatriot Peggy Michell . In the same year Watson reached the final of the individual competition in New York, she lost the game against Helen Wills Moody 4-6, 2-6.
