Phylas (Dryopia)
Phylas ( Greek Φύλας ), king of the Dryoper , is a figure in Greek mythology .
Since he had violated the sanctuary of Delphi , Heracles went to war with the Malians against him. Phylas died at the demigod's hand. The Dryoper had to serve the Delphic Apollo in the future , and their land fell to the Malians. Heracles carried away the daughter of Phylas, Meda , as spoils of war; she later gave birth to Antiochus , the progenitor of the Phyle Antiochis .
What is striking here is the similarity of the story with that of Heracles and Phylas , the king of ancient Ephyra .
