Pickleball

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pickleball is a ball sport that originated in the USA and combines elements of badminton , tennis and table tennis . It differs in the moderate speed of the ball, the size of the court and the dynamic course of the game.

history

Pickleball was created on Bainbridge Island in 1965 by three fathers, Joel Pritchard , Bill Bell and Barney McCallum, for the employment of their children. Meanwhile, pickleball has become a popular sport outside of the US and Canada.

In the early years there was no official name for the game. As the game became more popular, it was named after the statement of Joan Prichard, Joel Prichard's wife: “after I said it reminded me of the Pickle Boat in crew where oarsmen were chosen from the leftovers of other boats. Somehow the idea the name came from our dog Pickles was attached to the naming of the game, but Pickles wasn't on the scene for two more years. The dog was named from the game. "

This material is a synthetic aromatic polyamide polymer (aramid) which is processed with paper into a honeycomb core. The surface of the racket consists of either a glass fiber, aluminum or graphite layer.

The size of the field corresponds to almost a third of the total area of a tennis court or the size of a badminton field .
