Joel McFee Pritchard (born May 5, 1925 in Seattle , Washington , † October 9, 1997 in Olympia , Washington) was an American politician ( Republican Party ).

Pritchard attended a public school. From 1944 to 1946 he served in the United States Army with the rank of sergeant . After retiring from active service, he attended Marietta College in 1946 and 1947 . He later worked for Griffin Envelope Co. , a Seattle-based company, of which he was president from 1948 to 1971.

Pritchard's political career began in the Washington House of Representatives , of which he was a member from 1953 to 1966. From 1966 to 1970 he was a member of the Washington Senate . He was also a delegate to the 1956 Republican National Convention in San Francisco and was elected to the 93rd Congress . There he represented his home state in the US House of Representatives from January 3, 1973 to January 3, 1985. In the election to the 99th Congress, he did not run. Instead, he was elected Vice-Governor of Washington State in 1988 and confirmed in 1992. The office of vice governor held Pritchard from January 1989 to January 1997.
