Suzan Kay DelBene (born February 17, 1962 in Selma , Alabama ) is an American politician . Since November 6, 2012, it represents the state of Washington in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Suzan DelBene came to Bellevue, Washington state at a young age . The family later moved to Mercer Island . Until 1983 she studied at Reed College in Portland ( Oregon ). Between 1989 and 1998 she worked for the Microsoft group as a department director. Afterwards she worked for other companies on the board level. In 2000 she became CEO of Nimble Technology . From 2004 to 2007, she served as Microsoft's vice president of mobile communications. After that she was a consultant for several companies. From 2010 to 2012 she served as director of the Washington State Tax Department.

Politically, DelBene is a member of the Democratic Party . In 2010 she ran unsuccessfully against Republican Dave Reichert for the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC After the resignation of the Democratic MP Jay Inslee , who wanted to concentrate on the election campaign as governor of Washington, she was in the by-election for the elected the first seat of her state as its successor in Congress , where she took up her new mandate on November 6, 2012.
