Jaime Herrera Beutler (born November 3, 1978 in Glendale , California ) is an American politician . Since 2011, it represents the state of Washington in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Jaime Lynn Herrera, her maiden name, studied at Seattle Pacific University between 1996 and 1998 . In 2003 she graduated from Bellevue Community College ; thereafter she was at the University of Washington in Seattle until 2004 . At the same time, she embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . Between 2005 and 2007 she worked for Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers ; from 2007 to 2010 she was a member of the Washington House of Representatives .

In the 2010 congressional election , Jaime Herrera was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the third constituency of Washington , DC , where she succeeded the no longer-running Democrat Brian Baird on January 3, 2011 . As she was re-elected in all subsequent elections, including the one in 2016, she can continue to exercise her mandate today. Her latest legislative term runs until January 3, 2019. In Congress , she was or is a member of the Committee on Small Business and the Committee on Transport and Infrastructure as well as several sub-committees. Within the party, she is a member of the Congressional Hispanic Conference , the Republican Study Committee and the Republican Main Street Partnership . When she took office in Congress, she was the youngest female congresswoman ever.
