Richard Alan "Rick" White (born November 6, 1953 in Bloomington , Indiana ) is an American politician . Between 1995 and 1999 he represented the state of Washington in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Rick White studied at Dartmouth College until 1975 . He then continued his education at the Sorbonne , the university in the French capital, Paris . After returning to the United States, he studied law at Georgetown University in Washington, DC . He was then employed by federal judge Charles Clark . He also worked as a private lawyer. White became the founder of the literature program "Books for Kids".

Politically, White became a member of the Republican Party . Between 1986 and 1988 he was a member of the Queen Anne Parish Council in Washington State. In the 1994 congressional election he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington DC in the first constituency of his state, where he succeeded Maria Cantwell on January 3, 1995 . After a re-election in 1996 , he was able to complete two terms in Congress until January 3, 1999 . There he was a member of the Energy and Trade Committee. White supported the Internet Protection Act at the time . He was considered conservative and voted for the then failed impeachment of President Bill Clinton .

In the 1998 election, Rick White lost to Democrat Jay Inslee . After retiring from the House White was until 2005 CEO in Palo Alto ( California TechNet resident) company.
