Jacob Falconer

Jacob Alexander Falconer (born January 26, 1869 in Ontario , Canada , †  July 1, 1928 in Wingdale , New York ) was an American politician . Between 1913 and 1915 he represented the state of Washington in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Jacob Falconer came to the United States with his parents as early as 1873. The family first settled in Saugatuck ( Michigan down). There he attended public schools. He later moved to Washburn , Wisconsin . In this state he attended Beloit Academy until 1890 and then Beloit College .

In 1894, Falconer moved to Everett, Washington state. There he began to work in the wood industry. At the same time he embarked on a political career. He was mayor of his new hometown Everett in 1897 and 1898. Between 1904 and 1908 he was a member of the Washington House of Representatives ; in 1907 he was its president. From 1909 to 1912 Falconer was a member of the State Senate . He was a member of the short-lived Progressive Party .

In the 1912 congressional elections , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the newly created fifth constituency of Washington . There he took up his new mandate on March 3, 1913. Until March 3, 1915, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress . In 1914 he unsuccessfully sought his party's nomination for the US Senate elections .

From 1915 to 1919 Jacob Falconer worked as a ship broker in New York City . In 1919 he moved to Fort Worth , Texas . There he was involved in road construction projects. After another move in 1925 to Farmington , New Mexico , Falconer started working there in the oil and gas business. He died on July 1, 1928 in Wingdale (New York) and was buried in Saugatuck.
