Jennifer Blackburn Dunn (born July 29, 1941 in Seattle , Washington , †  September 5, 2007 in Alexandria , Virginia ) was an American politician . Between 1993 and 2005 she represented the state of Washington in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Jennifer Dunn first attended Bellevue High School and then studied between 1960 and 1962 at the University of Washington in Seattle and then until 1963 at Stanford University in California . Then she worked for IBM for some time . Between 1978 and 1980 she was employed by the King County county government.

Politically, she became a member of the Republican Party . From 1981 to 1992 she was regional party leader for Washington State. In 1984 and 1990 she was a member of the American UN delegations that dealt with the status of women. In the 1992 congressional elections , Dunn was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the eighth constituency of her state , where she succeeded Rod Chandler on January 3, 1993 . After five re-elections, she was able to complete six legislative terms in Congress by January 3, 2005 . During this time she was a member of the Committee on Ways and Means , the Homeland Security Committee and the Joint Economic Committee . In 2000, she was on the George W. Bush campaign team .

In 2004 Dunn declined to run for Congress again. Instead, she became an employee of a lobby company operating in the federal capital, Washington. In 2007 she supported Mitt Romney's presidential election campaign . Jennifer Dunn died unexpectedly of a pulmonary embolism on September 5, 2007.
