Thurston Daniels

Thurston Edward Daniels (born June 10, 1859 in Yamhill County , Oregon , †  December 8, 1926 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American politician . Between 1897 and 1901 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Washington .

Career

Thurston Daniels graduated from Portland High School . He did an apprenticeship in printing and then worked in the newspaper industry. He was the founder and co-owner of the Vancouver Independent newspaper . Politically, he was a member of the Populist Party . In 1896 Daniels was elected Lieutenant Governor of Washington alongside John Rogers . He held this office between 1897 and 1901. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . After his time as Lieutenant Governor, he was no longer politically active. He died on December 8, 1926 in Los Angeles.
