John A. Cherberg

John Andrew Cherberg (born October 17, 1910 in Pensacola , Florida , † April 8, 1992 in Seattle , Washington ) was a Democratic American politician.

Before his political career as Lieutenant Governor of Washington, Cherberg worked as a teacher and was a football coach at the University of Washington from 1953 to 1956 . Cherberg was a total of eight terms from 1957 to 1989 lieutenant governor before he retired after 32 years. He held this office longer than any other lieutenant governor in the United States before him.

He died in Seattle in April 1992 at the age of 81 from pneumonia . Cherberg was married with three children, a son and two daughters.
