Picris pauciflora is a species of the sunflower family (Asteraceae).

features

Picris pauciflora is an annual, bristly or short-haired shank therophyte that reaches heights of 10 to 50 centimeters. The leaves are almost undone at the base. The few baskets are 10 to 15 millimeters in size. The bracts are densely white star-haired and have bristles with two barbs. The stalks of the wicker are strongly thickened and constricted under the basket. The fruits are 4.5 to 5 millimeters long and narrow towards the tip or have short beaks. The pappus is uniformly feathery.

The flowering period extends from April to June.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 10.

Occurrence

Picris pauciflora occurs in the Mediterranean area. In Crete, the species grows on roadsides, in Phrygana and on debris fields at altitudes from 0 to 1400 meters.
