Pierre-Marie Gy

Pierre-Marie Gy (born October 19, 1922 in Paris , † December 20, 2004 ) was a French Dominican and liturgical scholar .

Gy studied from 1940 at the École des Chartes and entered the Dominican order in 1941. In 1948 he was ordained a priest . From 1949 to 1968 he taught sacramental theology and liturgical science at the Dominican college Le Saulchoir (in Étiolles near Paris).

From 1949 to 2001 Gy was a member of the Center (national) de pastorale liturgique (CNPL) in Paris. After founding the Institut Supérieur de Liturgie at the Institut Catholique de Paris, he worked there as professor, deputy director and 1964–1986 as its director. In 1993 he retired. As a university lecturer, he supervised around 50 dissertations in liturgical science.

Gy was a founding member and 1971–1973 chairman of the Societas Liturgica .
