As a genus VIb designated Royal Saxon State Railways four-coupled Tender - locomotives for express train service . The Deutsche Reichsbahn classified the locomotives in the 34.8 series from 1925 .

history

The locomotives of type VIb V were built by Hartmann from 1889 in 14 copies for use in front of express trains. They were retired from 1922. The Reichsbahn took over a machine and gave it the road number 34 8011. It was retired in 1925.

technical features

The locomotives were the first compound machines in Saxony. The two-cylinder compound engine behind the running axle acted on the last axle. The locomotives had an internal Allan control. The steam dome was placed in the middle of the boiler above the central axis. The chassis had an improved Nowotny running axle, but this did not ensure a satisfactory run. The brakes of the type Schleifer were later converted to Westinghouse brakes.
