Pierre Camonin

Pierre Camonin (born February 25, 1903 in Bar-le-Duc ; died November 14, 2003 in Verdun ) was a French organist , composer and improviser.

Life

Camonin studied piano music with Marcel Ciampi at the Paris Conservatory and organ with Louis Vierne and Marcel Dupré . He was ordained a priest in 1929.

As an organist, he first worked in Ligny-en-Barrois and then followed Ernest Grosjean in 1935 on the great organs of Verdun Cathedral , where he worked alongside Ferdinand Tourte . He held this position until his death. In 1997 Vincent Warnier was appointed co-titular organist. Camonin's students include: a. Dominique Bréda (1956–), organist at St. Léon in Nancy .
