Pierre Carrier-Belleuse (born January 29, 1851 in Paris , † 1932 there ) was a French painter.

Life

Carrier-Belleuse came from a family of artists: his father was the painter Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse and the painter Louis-Robert Carrier-Belleuse was his brother.

Carrier-Belleuse received his first artistic lessons - like his brother - from his father. He later went to the École des Beaux-Arts and was taught again by his father. Later he was also tutored by Alexandre Cabanel . With the support of Cabanel, Carrier-Belleuse was able to take part in the great annual exhibition of the Salon de Paris in 1875 .

From this time he regularly took part in the salon and was invited in 1889 together with Daniel Ridgway Knight to take part in the World's Fair .
