Player career

The 180 centimeter tall midfielder was promoted to the professional team of FC Sète in 1936 at the age of 18 . For the first division, he came in the course of the 1936/37 season at a time when substitutions and substitutions were not yet possible, on ten missions. Then he made the leap into the first team and was on the field in all games when the team was able to secure the French championship title in the 1938/39 season; to that he contributed eight goals. In the same year the Second World War began and put a temporary end to regular gaming.

Despite the war, Danzelle was able to continue playing football and took part in the unofficial championships that continued to be played. In 1942 he won the championship of southern France with Sète and made it into the national cup final at the same time ; there, however, his team failed 2-0 to Red Star Paris . From 1943 to 1944 he was a member of the ÉF Montpellier-Languedoc , which mainly comprised players from the Languedoc region , which also includes Sète. The regular clubs, which were not allowed for this season, were brought back to life in 1944, after which Danzelle returned to Sète.

In 1945, the return to the official game operation, the midfielder at FC Sète was still set as a regular player, but with the team could not build on the success of 1939 and did not get beyond the 13th rank. After similar results in the 1946/47 season, the player was transferred to coaching responsibility in 1947, so that he was the player-coach. Under his own direction, he kept his role as a top performer in the field, but only narrowly escaped relegation in 1948. In the same year he lost both posts and at the same time left after 158 first division games with 28 goals as a player in the top national league.

He found a new employer in the second division Olympique Nîmes , where he was only intended as a player in the 1948/49 season. Despite regular appearances, he turned his back on the club after a year and signed with league rivals FC Rouen in 1949 . For Rouen he ran for another season before ending his active career in 1950 at the age of 32.

Coaching career

Immediately after the end of his career, he continued the coaching career he had already started at Sète and took over responsibility for the AS Aix amateur club ; he held this post for a year until 1951. From 1960 to 1962 he sat on the bench at Cercle Dijon , who was also playing in amateur football at the time; a few years earlier he had tried to set up a football academy in Guebwiller, Alsace . The ex-professional made one last return to paid football when he became head coach of the first division club Girondins Bordeaux on March 5, 1970 ; he gave up the office in the summer of the same year.
