Pierre Fornallaz

Pierre André Fornallaz (born July 6, 1924 , † September 4, 2011 in Basel ) was a Swiss pioneer in solar technology .

Life

Pierre Fornallaz studied mechanical engineering and was director of the Mikron machine factory in Biel . From 1968 to 1981 he was professor for precision engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich . The engineer's responsibility for people, the environment and sustainable development was important to him.

In 1973 he organized a symposium on technology for or against people at the ETH Zurich , based, among other things, on the ideas of the economist Ernst Friedrich Schumacher .

In 1974 Fornallaz was one of the founders of the Swiss Solar Energy Association (SSES), which he presided over until 1980. On March 29, 1980, the SP National Councilor Doris Morf was elected President of the Swiss Association for Solar Energy - SSES. She replaced Professor Pierre Fornallaz in this position.

In 1979 he was one of the founders of the Ökozentrum Langenbruck , where he worked until 1995 and where he was the foundation president from 1980 to 1988. The aim was to show in practice that a sustainable ecological and social economy is possible.

In 1986 he published his experiences in the book Die Ökologische Wirtschaft .

From 1995 he published several works on ecology , money management, sustainable economy and a study 20 years Ökozentrum Langenbruck .
