Doris Morf also Morf-Keller (born September 17, 1927 in St. Gallen ; † August 27, 2003 in Zurich , reformed , entitled to reside in Zurich, Fällanden and Winterthur ) was a Swiss politician (SP) , publisher and writer .

Life

Doris Morf was born on September 17, 1927 in St. Gallen as the daughter of the independent designer Karl Keller and the Elisabeth born Wenger. Morf first completed his studies in German, history and journalism at the University of Zurich .

Subsequently, Doris Morf worked as a correspondent for various newspapers in New York for three years . She then worked as a publisher in Zurich from 1960 to 1975. In addition, from the mid-1960s she emerged as an author of novels , scripts and children's books .

Doris Morf married Peter Jakob Morf in her first marriage in 1949 and the writer André Kaminski in 1989 . She died on August 27, 2003, three weeks before she turned 76 in Zurich.

Political career

Doris Morf, a member of the Swiss Social Democratic Party , was a local councilor ( legislature ) in Zurich between 1970 and 1977 . In addition, Morf took a seat on the National Council from 1975 to 1990 . In 1980 the SP National Councilor Doris Morf was elected President of the Swiss Association for Solar Energy (SSES). She replaced Professor Pierre Fornallaz in this position .

She was also a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe from 1984 and 1990 . Most recently, she served as President of the Swiss UNESCO Commission from 1992 to 1997 and as Switzerland's representative on the UNESCO Executive Council from 1993 to 1997 .

Doris Morf was committed to cultural , educational and environmental policy .
