Pierre Frédéric Sarrus
Pierre Frédéric Sarrus (born March 10, 1798 in Saint-Affrique , † November 20, 1861 ibid) was a French mathematician .
He wrote the rule of Sarrus (1833) and made important contributions to the calculus of variations (1842), which were later adopted and improved by Augustin Louis Cauchy .
