Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville (* July 20, 1661 in Ville-Marie (now Montréal ), Québec ; † (probably) July 9, 1706 in Havana, Cuba) was the founder of the Louisiana colony . He is also known as Sieur d'Iberville or M. d'Iberville .

He was the third son of Charles le Moyne de Longueuil et de Châteauguay, who was born in Dieppe and was Seigneur of Longueuil in Canada and of Catherine Primot.

He was the older brother of the researcher Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville (1680-1767).

Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville helped found and create several American cities: Biloxi , Mississippi , namely old Biloxi, located on the Bay, in 1699, and Mobile , Alabama (1702). Iberville led a military campaign in Newfoundland 1696–1697 and defeated a British squadron in the Battle of Hudson's Bay in 1697.

Iberville launched a successful attack on the English island of Nevis in 1706 . He then went to Havana to win reinforcements from the Castilians for an attack on Carolina . Pierre Le Moyne died of yellow fever in Havana .
