Pierre Yaméogo

Saint-Pierre Yaméogo (born May 15, 1955 in Koudougou , Upper Volta , today Burkina Faso ; † April 1, 2019 in Ouagadougou ) was a director and film producer from the West African state of Burkina Faso.

In 1978 he went to study in Paris , where he also lived temporarily. His film Delwendé received the prix de l'espoir at the Cannes Film Festival in 2005 . The film is about the women in Burkina Faso who were accused of being witches in their home villages and therefore had to flee. Yaméogo wanted to inform and depict reality in his films. Yaméogo also worked as a producer and documentary filmmaker. His films have been broadcast on TV5MONDE and on ZDF , among others .
