Pierre de la Garde
Pierre de la Garde (born February 10, 1717 in Crécy-en-Brie , † 1792 ) was a French composer and singer ( baritone ) of the pre-classical period .
Life
Pierre de la Garde was employed as a singer Basse taille at the French court. From 1750 to 1755 deputy conductor of the Paris Opera , in 1756 he took over its management. In 1756 he was succeeding François Francœur Compositeur de la chambre du roi and in 1757 music teacher for the children of Louis XV. (Maitre de musique des Enfants de France). His most successful work was his Pastorale héroique "Æglé" (1748), and three other stage works are from his pen. In addition, de la Garde wrote arias, "brunettes" with the accompaniment of a harp or guitar, as well as several cantatas in a lyrical style and "cantatilles" (comic cantatas). The cantata "La Sonate" belongs to this type.
