The menhir Pierre du Pôt (also called Pierre du Post or Postis) stands near the Départementstrasse, in the northwest of Ussy , near Potigny in the Calvados department in Normandy in France .

Originally, who was menhir from limestone and a half kilometers south-west of about Ussy, on the road to Saint-Germain-Langot in a field called Le Pot. The farmer had cut it up and put it on the side of the road. The municipality of Ussy recovered the broken megalith to be placed in the arboretum park . The diamond-shaped stone is about 2.2 m high, 1.4 m wide, and has a long vertical crack. The menhir Pierre de la Hauberie stands near its old location and the menhir of Grurie is located in nearby Villers-Canivet .

The menhir has been registered as a Monument historique since 1945 . Its original location is also protected, although the menhir is no longer there.

Legends

It was believed that treasure was hidden under the menhir. In 1824 young people of the community overthrew him to find the hidden wealth.
