Pierre qui Tourne

The Pierre qui Tourne is a menhir in a forest near the hamlet Onoz, in the east of Velaine sur Sambre , near Charleroi in the province of Namur in Belgium .

The menhir is about 3.1 meters high. Neolithic blades , hammers, a piece of polished flint ax and fragments of rough vases have been found nearby .

The menhir was placed under protection by royal decree in 1960.

Pierre qui Tourne is a name that is often used in southern Belgium and France for megalithic systems and menhirs (Pierre qui Tourne (Baileux), Pierre qui Tourne (Beaurieux), Pierre qui Tourne (Bézancourt) , Pierre qui Tourne (Morancez) , Pierre qui Tourne (Sautin) and Pierre qui Tourne (Vay) ) was awarded.

A hundred meters from Pierre qui Tourne, the Neolithic polissoir of Velaine sur Sambre was discovered in 1927 .
