Pietro Paolo Borrono
Pietro Paolo Borrono (writing variants: Petro Paulo da Milano and Petter Paul Borrono of Milan ; also written Boroni and Borono), Latinized Petrus Paulus Mediolanensis (* around 1490 in Milan ; † after 1563 there), was an Italian composer and lutenist of the Renaissance .
Little is known about his career. In 1531, however, he entered the service of the French King François I as the official lute player. In 1536 Borrono published some of his compositions (especially pavans and saltarelli ) for lute in Milan, probably under the employment of Ferrante I Gonzaga in the collection Intabolatura de leuto de diversi autori , 1546 in Libro secondo di una collanna di Intabolatura di lauto , and in another collection in 1548, together with compositions by his famous contemporary and teacher Francesco da Milano . Among his works for lute also include tablature of vocal pieces, fantasies in imitation of style and historically significant dance suites .
