Pierino Pietro Selvatico

Pierino Pietro Selvatico SJ (born August 17, 1932 - April 19, 2008 ) was a Swiss theologian .

Life

Pierino Pietro Selvatico studied theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. In 1953 he joined the Jesuit order. After his two-year novitiate , he studied philosophy at the Munich School of Philosophy . After working as a prefect in the Jesuit college Stella Matutina in Feldkirch, he completed his theology studies at the Gregoriana. He then received his doctorate in 1976 with a thesis on the Protestant theologian Gerhard Ebeling at the University of Freiburg.

As a student chaplain in Bern and Friborg, he had been teaching at the University of Freiburg since 1979. In 1990 he was appointed associate professor for systematic theology at the University of Freiburg . In 2002 he retired.

Act

In addition to his field of systematic theology, the focus of his work was the presentation of the ecumenical scope of the Second Vatican Council .

In addition, he was editor of the Swiss Jesuit magazine " Orientation " for many years .
