The Pik Dserschinski ( Russian Пик Дзержинского ) is one of the highest mountain in the central portion of the Transalai chain of the northern part Pamir (Central Asia).
location
The 6,717 m high Dzerzhinsky Peak rises 8.76 km west of Lenin Peak , a few meters southwest of the main ridge, on Tajik territory. The Baku Glacier is located on the southern flank of Dzerzhinsky Peak .
Origin of name
The mountain was named after the Russian professional revolutionary Felix Dzerzhinsky .
Minor peaks
The secondary peak Pik Baku ( 6305 m ⊙ ) is located on the secondary ridge of Pik Dzerzhinsky, 3.4 km west-southwest.
Ascent history
Dzerzhinsky Peak was first climbed in 1936 by a Soviet mountaineering group led by Yevgeny Beletsky .
